I’ve jumped in on the new Pokemon GO craze and I’ve been biking all around town trying to #catchemall. The new Pokemon GO game is pretty darn fun but Pokemon Go biking can be a little dangerous if you’re trying to bike around town with one hand on the grips and the other holding your phone.
There’s already been a couple stories of players getting hurt while playing Pokemon GO. One teen from Wyoming even stumbled across a dead body down by the river.
Here enters the Aduro® U-GRIP PLUS Universal Bike Mount/Holder ($19) made specifically for bike handlebars and makes a really good Pokemon Go bike mount. It works with pretty much all iPhones, all Galaxy phones, Note 5 and anything up to 5.5 inches wide.
No more one handed balancing acts, just install the mount, place the phone in the holder and you’re ready to go. Now I realize that someone might actually use this for something other than Pokemon GO, maybe… and it is definitely stable enough for your road rides, trail rides, and poking around town, and I believe this one is even strong enough to take on aggressive downhill trails.
I live in a pretty small town and I think we have 5-7 gyms at this time and everyone is still way ahead of me. I’m still trying to learn how to battle, join gyms/teams, and the level ups but I have a couple different people playing with me so we should get it all figured out here soon.
If you have any tips or suggestions for Pokemon GO biking or if you think you have a better solution for playing Pokemon GO while biking, go ahead a leave a comment below or hit me up on my contact page.

UPDATE-7/14/16: Now that I’m successfully set up to bike a little safer and exploring new areas, I’m running into battery life problems! My iPhone usually has pretty good average battery life but when the screen is on, using GPS, and data… it seems to drain the battery pretty darn fast.
So I ended up buying an Anker external battery back that I’m able to just carry around in my pocket and charge my iPhone while riding. I’m currently using the Anker 20000mAh Portable Charger PowerCore 20100 ($39.99) but this might be overkill for a couple hours of Pokemon GO. Mind you, I can use this thing everywhere. I can take on day hiking trips, festivals, beach days, airport/traveling, and it even works in the extreme cold when I’m up skiing during the winter. So I don’t doubt that I will use this thing for a lot more reasons other than Pokemon GO.
If you were looking for something a little cheaper and more portable, I would check out the KMASHI 10000mAh External Battery Power Bank ($13.99) or the Portable Charger RAVPower 13000mAh ($21.99). There seems to be plenty of options on Amazon as far as portable external battery packs go so I’ll list a few more below that I recommend.
If you have any questions the external battery packs like the “mAh” or which would work best for your phone, hit me up in the comments below or shoot me a message over a on my contact page. Thanks for checking out my site and good luck catching more Pokemon! #batterylife #anker #nodeadphones

I have a very similar mount I got on Amazon and I really enjoy it. Another bike mount that might be better but also much higher in cost is the quad mount. It is kind of beefy and can probably take those heavy trails while you’re trying to catch those Onyx & Rhyhorn.

Awesome! That is a good one as well, thanks for the heads up! My buddy has this one and it’s a beefier one as well. I’ll add a section to the bottom of this article listing some other sturdier choices. Thanks again for the advice!

Hi Nick,
I just realised that me comment is not shown. We would love to send you one of our Finn Mounts for testing (www.getfinn.com). We war bicycle lovers and developed it ourselves. Just have a look – our whole development team was already catching Pokemons with their bikes yesteray 😉 Ingress players like to use our Finn Smartphone mount a lot. And, furthermore, there is a voucher for our cycling navigation app for cities included.
I would be great to get in touch
Thx
Elisabeth

Thanks for an article Nick! Bought anker external battery and a mount from your article along with couple of other most popular Amazon bike mounts.
My personal favorite is Caw.Car bike mount. It is as good as yours and even much better when using it without the four corners rubber band (I dont use them for a short rides). Besides it has a better tremble absorbing level.
After purchasing it on Amazon, I have found out their site where they give a 10% discount. Would not paste it here unless you give a permission, dont want it to look like an advertising.
Thanks for an article one more time! Now my pokemon hunt is way more comfortable! :))
